Dr. Manuel Castro
Internal Medicine

Dr. Castro is a board-certified internist who was born in Dominican Republic where he went to medical school. As a medical student Dr. Castro participated in a research project dealing with HIV/AIDS which was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). Apon completion of medical school he became involved in computer programming and using his knowledge of medicine and his computer skills he was able to create his own consulting company which was listed as one of the top fifty fastest growing companies in Florida in 1996, called EuroGrafix, Inc.

Dr. Castro pursued his passion for medicine and completed his residency training in internal medicine at a Rush-Presbyterian affiliate hospital in Chicago, Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he completed his training. After completing his training, he was hired by Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach where he was assistant program director of the internal medicine residency program, and later became the medical director of the employee health department of the same hospital. After that he opened his private practice in Wilton Manors, FL where he worked for the last 20 plus years.

Dr. Castro also teaches internal medicine for the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLE) for the last twenty-three years with Kaplan Medical International where Dr. Castro teaches at multiple medical school around the United States, as well as the top medical schools in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Hungary, Antigua, and India. He also teaches review courses on-line for medical students and physicians that are preparing for the USMLE Steps 1, 2 and 3, which he continues to do.

After his Internal Medicine training he became board certified in Internal Medicine and has maintained his board certification since 1997. Dr Castro is also a member of the American Academy of HIV medicine and is very knowledgeable on HIV topics and other issues pertaining to the LGBT+ community.

In his spare time Dr. Castro likes to create 3D video games, he also attended Julliard School in New York City for piano classes in the early 1990’s, and still plays piano as a hobby. Dr. Castro also is fluent in Spanish and enjoys learning about multiple cultures and languages. He is very committed to maintaining a healthy lifestyle and enjoys working out as much as his time permits.
